Title: WTB: Ford Explorer 8.8 31 spline axle shafts
Post by: clark123456 on February 16, 2014, 08:28:03 PM
Before I go to a pull-a-part, does anyone have a set of Ford 8.8 axle shafts (Explorer; 31 spline) you want to unload?  Cash, paypal, blood...I can do it all.

Will they sell just a shaft?

Based on the website price list, it appears so.  Cheap as hell, if true.  $35 each.

Ah. Most local places won't since it "ruins the axle". How much to snag me a 8.25 shaft from a 97-01 XJ?

How much labor is involved?

Same as an 8.8. Open cover, remove c clip, remove wheel an tire, remove drum, do the hokey pokey, yank shaft. Giggity.

I'll double check the policy via phone tomorrow and then, if true, we'll work something out.

How would you interpret "axle shaft (solid type)" as listed on the following page:

That's how I interpret it.
