I would love to have this available when we're off-road, especially on a long trip (Windrock). I couldn't justify buying it alone, but I'm open to a partnership model with a very minimal investment.

Joint ownership would be great. The only major issue is having the dual battery setup, to provide the proper voltage to run it. But is something that should be doable

True...I am single battery only. A very temp setup could be put together in the field, but it would be good to do it properly.

They make the dual battery setups for the jeeps.

Needs 3 batteries (36V) for thick metal. Generally you get the two vehicles nearest the broken one to donate their batteries temporarily and hook them togeher in series. Here's an article on how to build your own: http://www.pirate4x4.com/articles2/tech/on-boardwelder

That was what I meant by "very temp setup". The alternator in a standard jeep won't keep up with that for long...correct?
