Title: Earthquake
Post by: Trailabite on March 29, 2014, 12:57:30 PM
We were having diner last night at the Hilton LAX and felt our first one. I think it was a 5.3 and then several after shocks that we didn't feel. It was definitely a weird feeling.

We get them here every few years.  Sometimes I don't realize it, other times it is obvious.

No vacation. Looking for a place to live. Will be here 3 to 5 years building an 8 mile extension to LA's light rail system.

Lax now.  Feels solid at the moment. :-)

You must have a 200% location stipend they will pay separate so they can take it away when you move next.  Housing is off the charts and commuting doesn't work in LA except between 1am and 3am.

Orange county is really nice.

My salary does get adjusted for each location, sometimes its better than others. In this case, not so good. We found a few places to rent that are close to where my office is going to be and I can get to it driving side streets only so that I never have to get on the expressways there. The 405 is nothing but a huge parking lot during rush hour, from what I hear.

Every freeway there is at rush hour and the rush hour is long.
