Title: Upgrades or Overhaul?
Post by: CA_Tread on May 23, 2014, 11:06:55 PM
I have a 2013 JK and have been recommended to put a 2.5 OME and Upgraded Long arms on my JK by a good friend of mine who has owned jeeps in the past instead of a Rock Krawler 2.5 Long travel suspension.

Any ideas or better guidance on where to go with this brand new build?

Go with Rock Krawler. Tried and true.

What kind of wheeling will you do?

I run a RK lift with Fox shocks and it's a Dailey driver and toy. Very happy with both driving condition with the lifts performance. Give Allsouth Autosports a call. They can talk more specs and order you what you want.

RK is hard to argue against. You never hear a bad thing. JK doesn't really need long arms and some would argue they hang too low anyway...

I would agree. After watching several JK's on the trail, long arms wouldn't be needed until you lifted it way up in the air. Compared to the previous TJ and XJ suspension, a JK has what would be a kinda like a mid arm set up on one of those. The control arm lengths are much longer  on JKs and long arms would just drag for days.

No need for long arms on the JK unless you're going big lift. Save the cash for something else and do a bolt on RK kit with all of the arms and track bars.  JKs have longer arms from the factory than TJs.

It will be mostly a toy, and around town vehicle.

If im only going up to 35s what is the urgency of a regear?

None really. It may be a little doggy but a regear w 35's is definitely not a requirement.

I am in the same situation 2013 Sahara JKU and I  am planning on the the RK 2.5 Flex w/ the adj track bar and front lower arms. 35's and maybe next year getting lockers and a regear.  Mine is a daily driver.
I highly recommend going out and driving stock as much as you can. You will improve your driving skills and it'll make you more aware of how capable your rig is.
