Just got a 2006 Tj and I'm looking to get fenders. But I don't know whether to get Poison spider or Smitty built. Any opinions?
-
Buy poison spyder it's a much better quality product. It also looks 110% better imo
-
If you're on a budget smittybilt flat fenders look mean and give good clearance
-
X2 on poison spider. You could save a little longer and get the Metalcloak arched. They look pretty mean, top notch quality, and more clearance over a standard tube fender (like the smittybilt
-
you can have them custom made at
several different shops around....
mine are custom made
-
I absolutely love my metalcloak fenders and I love the way they look on a TJ (I know, it's subjective). The clearance is fantastic and they are stout.
-
Another vote for metalcloak...by fat the best quality fender you can put in a tj. You pay for it but it is worth it.
-
If I had a tj, I would go with metalcloak without question for performance and looks.
-
Go look at jeepson33's pictures of his. Then change your pants and go order a set from metalcloak.
-
I'm a Poison Spyder guy but I do agree the Metal Cloaks are Heavy Duty and extremely well designed,
although I don't like the way they look, but they are growing on me.
Functionally they rock.

I have metal cloak and love them. Mine are painted to my jeep and werent that bad to install. No with saying that I probably wouldnt buy them again. Just too much money to mess them up so easily. Granted learn to drive but you can always slide on a rock and smack them. I would rather go with MCE or an even better idea is Jimmy 4x4 or Campbell Enterprise fiberglass hood with the fender molded in. Hoods are only 400. Lighten the whole front end up and help with heat soaking.

I beat on mine pretty good. I just painted the flare with rustolium so repainting is easy. The rest is painted the color of the body.

The MC's are stout, they ain't going anywhere. The actual flare is seperate, and can be replaced or swapped for a flare with less/more tire coverage. I prefer them like Jeepson33s did. The flare will take the hit and the painted part is alot less likely to be damaged. BTW nice rig!

Another vote for Metal Cloak. The tube fenders like TNT are a good option as well.
