Title: Anyone ever seen a trailer like this??
Post by: cjgolfer7 on September 27, 2014, 11:41:41 AM
Picked this up a while ago and just got it in my possession.  Have/had intentions of making a camping/expedition trailer out of it. Really solid. Its apparently and old army trailer but I've never seen one like it. Not to say I'm some sort of military trailer expert. But feel like my eyeballs have seen a lot.. Anyone ever seen one like it?

Yeah its pretty solid platform. I may pass it along because I see it sitting in this garage for a while. Its a really cool trailer, possibilities are endless.

I pulled it behind my 2000 Cherokee for about 4 hrs and didn't even know it was there hardly. Tracks straight and handles the bumps great.

I wonder if that was poundage, not cost.

I highly doubt the boxes added close to 400lbs over the original weight of the 416. And make an offer.. your hard pressed to find a nice 416 for under 800 dollars much less one this unique. The trailer isnt that heavy. I can pick it up of the ground and trust me my tall skinny 165lb ass isn't that strong by any means hah.

It'll need a new lunette welded on if anyone wants to use this with a jeep. Plus it looks like it's missing the hand brake assembly as well. Still a nice trailer, but will need work to use off-road

With the hitch thats provided the lunette is set perfect. I pulled it with my Cherokee and it sits and rides perfect. If I kept the trailer I was going to cut the lunette and bottom triangular section off and put a lock and roll trailer hitch on it. Yes there is no hand brake. Still an extremely solid trailer. Ill snap a pic behind my jeep this am. No work to go off road unless youd like to change the hitch. Still gets the job done.

Naw old timer in beaufort sc. Says in 1965 the military put service beds on ford pickups and he thinks this is one and is going to rip it apart for his truck. Who knows not necessarily the home I wanted it to go to. But its a home other than my storage non the less.

Actually I'm researching a M1101 offroad camping trailer build and saw one similar online during my search.

Not the same but similar.  I was looking for it and never found it.  It was a cool trailer. I just dont have the funds to build it and hated seeing it sit.
