Title: Non Jeep mechanic: broken steering
Post by: Cannonballkev on February 19, 2015, 06:06:50 PM
This is on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer 4x4

Girlfriend slid down our icy driveway/street and ended up in our yard.  When I got home last night I hooked strap up to rear hitch and pulled her out. (Pulled her out backwards)  When I first started pulling I heard a "pop". I thought the strap came loose or came off, checked it, still tight.  I pulled her to the road, 30ft maybe.  She had it in reverse or neutral, but at one point she did have the brakes on (for sure after the pop, not sure if before)
Once on the street I started to back down the icy road and could hardly turn the wheel, worse than having a bad power steering pump, serpentine belt was intact ,power steering fluid is full.
I looked underneath and saw a small boot that had come off of something on the drivers side ( not the CV boot, smaller )
I could t see much more, it was late and snowing.
She said that before I started to pull, that steering was fine, turned nomal.
I can't get it up the hill and in garage until the ice melts to check it out.

Any ideas what could be broken, I'm sure it's related to the "pop"
I know it's a long shot asking here, thanks.
