Grade one blocking side areas unless graveled to camping,
and CLOSE the other.
The sites that ride these every weekend are in a tizzy.

Good. Maybe this will be a wake up call. I doubt it, but maybe.

I was at Charlie's creek a couple weeks ago and say a bunch of orange ribbion used to tape off several areas. All of the tape had been torn ( driven over)down just a few days later. All of the areas marked off were areas ithat were mentioned above.
Come on people, respect the trails that are left, or you really will have a mall crawler.

4 wheel drive can't fix stupid. One thing I have learned over the years I have had my rig is the respect for the land. I owe that to being in GATR, which holds closely to Tread Lightly. These weekend warriors with TU license plates that keep hitting these places every week, sadly, will soon be off to destroy another FS road somewhere.

They have the attention of the Forest Service now. The ranger told me they are members of various groups on Facebook and know where to expect them. //OLDSKOOL//

That is some good stuff right there!

hey wait a minute I have a TU License Plate. But I don't represent that remark. I don't think you can espouse Tread Lightly and lambast TU in the same reply. Granted those that run through those trails every other weekend need to learn what an offroad park is.

You may be the exception to the rule but everyone sporting a TU plate is a perceived enemy of the law abiding off roader. The closure of Tellico would be the reason.

aye I have heard it before. I always get a chuckle when I see the FU TU stickers. Funny thing is I don't even know what happened.

Enlighten me, what's " TU"?

Trout Unlimited

Ah, got it

Powers that be used TU as a patsy to get Tellico closed. Damn tree huggers. LOL.
-
Why does this not surprise me.
-
Another place getting ripped up by those that can't respect what's not theirs.
-
Truely amazing how those groups will post there
pictures on facebook.....oh then also ask for help
when their stuck
-
To that end, I need a winching 101 class! So I can get stuck again.

i dont even know where to start on this. honestly i dont think any of this would have happened if it were not made a huge public attraction by the online community IMO. ive lived here 30 years and have been riding that road since i could reach the pedals and nothing ever happened until the last couple years when it became pretty much overrun with HUNDREDS of jeeps a week. I dont care where the road goes to, if its not able to be closed for certain seasons then itll go to shit quick if there is that much traffic. For example, go ride up to Springer mtn off Doublehead gap the next couple weeks, it stays open year round bc of the AT, and i almost had to put the big truck in 4wd a couple times on the main road bc of the wet conditions. I have chewed several asses in there climbing banks and dumping trash, but its just sheer volume thatl be the end of Charlie Creek unfortunately. Whatever tho, im with yall, go to a park if you wanna beat on stuff, i just want them to leave at least some access for camping.

Helen Jeepfest showed every irresponsible jeep owner where it is.
The traffic off of the road did it in.

I have a sticker on one of my coolers due to being a fly fisherman and they sent me a membership packet. Never signed up. Years later it's still on the cooler with a big sharpie line through it. I don't need anyone telling me it's not ok to destroy public land just the same as I don't need anyone telling me it's not ok to shoot up a school. I understand that the chapters of TU are all different from each other but if they are going to judge us as a whole I will judge them as a whole.
