Title: Log Splitting
Post by: BeerIAm on June 12, 2015, 10:05:19 PM
Anyone know anyone who does log splitting around North GA?  Or has a good deal on a log splitter rental?

Thanks,
Dan

May sound crazy but I  found using a maul was easier/faster than using a  splitter. Seriously.

I was looking to reduce some of the manual effort!

Either way, it's work. 'Dem logs don't jump in the splitter. Lol.

Yeah that's true!  Still have to roll over half of them out of the woods.  The maul does look kind of fun.  My back may not say the same thing though...

Try both & see which one works for you. The worst part I found was getting the split wood off the ground. If you decide to use the maul you will find yourself a little sore,  but not like you'd expect.

Splitter is 1k or better. Maul is maybe $30. Do ya good to get some excerise. Hell I'll split with an ax a lot. Swing harder and sharpen the blade.

You guys are funny.  Found someone on CL that will rent for $80 / week.  May try that route once I get all the logs out of the woods and ready.
