Post by: cru9 on July 26, 2015, 07:49:52 AM

Something I've never heard anyone say.

Which phone do y'all have.  There are some bad ones.

I have the Samsung s4 and Jacqie has the Samsung s5. We were both iPhone people since the start of IPhone and decided to give android a try. To be honest they both have problems but it seems Android has a few more hiccups

My wife and I use the iPhone 6 not the plus.  But we like it so far. Had a 5 and upgraded a few months ago

I have used both but have to say I prefer the iPhone. I have the 6. The plus wasn't portable enough for me. But the screen is great.

I never have any issues but have a Note 4 that is a much better phone.  Wife has S4 and it is not a great phone.

At least you have tried both and figured out what is best for you.  I have only been Android and BlackBerry.

What hiccups did y'all have?

Just weird things like playing videos and sending some group text messages. Have been my only complaint. Jacqie's complaint is she can't get here company email set up because of a exchange server. It also seems the Android has more steps to get a function working. Iphone seems more cut and dry to the point. Just my opinions

My company uses Touchdown as the email client for Exchange, but we have a wrapper called MobileIron that provides security...I think.  I'm sure Don can set me straight on that.  It works very well, you just can't reserve conference rooms or setup a conference bridge with Lync.  I use the Verizon messaging client for texting...it's ok, but crashes when trying to search, sometimes.  I never have a problem with video playback...strange, but likely a quirk due to difference base platforms.

Kell has the iPhone 6...she likes/loves it except that Apple keeps changing the way stuff functions with every upgrade/update.  It's like going from being comfortable with everything to learning something new, which sucks, but it usually is better once you learn it.  It's what I would compare to going from MSOffice 2003 (or whatever the version before 2010 was) to 2010 with "ribbons".  It's better, once you learn it.

MobileIron is a security/provisioning suite.  Touchdown is just an email app.  It is much more limited than built in iPhone mail BUT built in iPhone mail isn't a godsend either.  There are limitations all around.  I prefer built in iPhone mail having used Touchdown, multtiple androids and every iPhone made.

Good info. I've only used built in BlackBerry and Touchdown.  Td isn't bad, but I have a very limited frame of reference.  I may try iPhone in another year or so, when I'm allowed to get a new phone, for free.

Thanks, Security Master!

Both Colleen & I have an iPhone 6.  Personally, we love it.  The camera on the 6 is so much better then the prior phone.  I've been iOS since I ditched my Palm in 2010.  Couldn't imagine using another platform.

I have been a Star Tac fan since 1995. I won't give it up.

I still love my old Samsung flip phone from 2000...awesome durability and easy to carry, for the time.

Been an Android user since the original Motorola DroidX.  Had a Galaxy S3 and now have a Galaxy S5.  Wife has had iPhone 4s, 5s, and 6.

I'm a Mac user and prefer the Android platform for my phone.  More control over the phone, expandable memory, replaceable batteries.

That is one nice feature on the Samsung that you can add micro SD card for more storage.
