Title: Safety question re concealed carry
Post by: kvom on August 03, 2015, 03:26:38 PM
For those of you who carry a semiautomatic pistol, do you keep a round in the chamber while carrying concealed?  Having a lively discussion on another forum.

I do not, as my carry weapon does not have a safety.

Always one in the chamber.  No manual safety on any carry guns.

No good without it.  Always.

No point in carrying if you need to load the gun when you pull it out. No safety but a finger is all you need. Practice, practice, practice. Not just shooting but pulling the weapon from the holster and live fire drills. No way to be ready unless you train for it.

Yes always in the chamber and I carry Glock no manual safety. There is nobody in this planet that can draw chamber and shoot in the time frame something would happen it.

I will be in the minority here. I have small kids and have my CCW in the car on trips, etc (ie not on my body). The chances of me ever having to use it don't justify having a chambered round in a handgun with no safety. Keeping it un-chambered is the compromise that I'm comfortable with.

From time to time I will chamber one if I'm in an area where I believe the chances are higher that I'd need to use it.

Discussion was about the woman killed by her 2y/o while shopping at Walmart.  Gun was in her purse on a shopping cart, and kid grabbed it.

Hopefully, this is not at GATR gatherings...  ;-)

When shine starts passing around all weapons go in the cabin.   //:hlp//

Haha.   I get a little scared when I start seeing yellow jeeps nearby.
