Title: Storm damage
Post by: DOUG on June 18, 2016, 09:15:10 AM
It's father's day weekend and I fly out Monday so Thursday night we headed to the lake where I worked from home Friday and ready for a relaxing weekend.  We've been working on the lake for months and were about done.

The storm front rolled through about 4 and because we are out on a point, we usually get high winds that throw the sick furniture in the lake etc so we try to keep things nailed down. This was different.

All hell broke loose.  The wind was hard and continuous.  Gene like 60-70 easy. All straight line. I could not open the back storm door against it.

Trees started snapping and amassive 130' trees uprooted taking out both fences, power lines, pole, transformer, and blocking both driveways. Almost all of our trees are bent over, snapped, our down

Plans change. Chain saws out. Bob cat on the way.  No power and no idea when. Going home to get my big generator.

Damn...that stinks.  I have a big ass generator you can use, if you need it.  I can get you into the house remotely, while I'm out doing stuff with Kell.

I was skeeered at one point, was going to join the dog in a dark corner.

The porch swing we have out at the beach on chains was almost 90 degrees at one point.  It was 45 degrees for quite awhile.

Agreed but oh the stress and pain of no ac or internet for the teenagers.

It was tough sleeping with the windows open all night and all of the  late night dock parties, early fishing boats and wildlife sounds.  We have some crowd and geese here that think they are roosters.

Just finished cutting, dragging, stacking, and repairing all of the fence damage. Didn't snap a photo when I was done with the fences.  Still have some fire wood to stack.

Ass kicker manual labor for me 3 days daylight to dark.

Crown now. Fireworks on the lake are sporadic.

No joke..drink up, butter cup!  Manual labor is so far in my past that I can't even remember it.
