Title: And I thought Telico was tough.....
Post by: DOUG on April 30, 2008, 04:46:46 PM
Check this out, great pictures and descriptions of a ride out in the Northwest:
Go to the link to see it all.  Reiter Trails Offroad Run, April 26th, 2008
Seems the trails change drastically based on the winter storms, and how many boulders get pushed down the trail.

Dang it's beautiful. It sure would be fun to live out there. Just start driving and get lost in the mountains for a weekend. I've never made it past the Mississippi, so the pictures will have to do for a while  :P  Colorado is where I really wanna go.

I plan on renting a Jeep for the Easter Safari the year I graduate. I don't care how much money I have... I'll get out there somehow.

One day. Maybe when I am like 70 and towing the Jeep behind a motor home with my wife! ;D

That gas would be KILLER!!!! It would be cheaper to buy a plane ticket in advance and then rent a Jeep. But if it's about the brother hood and the long trip.... whatever, I'll start saving  :D

We could partner with a car carrier guy to carry all the Jeeps, and we all fly or ride in custom vans, or ?? ???   It might be cheaper to fly and rent like you say, but I'd like to be in mine if at all feasible.

I've seen guys rent moving vans for a weekend and use them to tow the Jeep to River Rock. And while they're there they roll up the back and hang out and camp in there. Not a bad idea. Still gotta pay for gas though. It's a lot. The guys that have left out of LaGrange spent about $1600 on gas.  :o

Here is what we do.

I believe Dadstoy is a trucker, we could get him to haul our 4x4s out there for gas and a good price. Then just have someone with a RV (like Chris) to go out there too and we could sleep there.

MOAB, UT is 1783 miles from my house, 27 hours straight thru, so it's do-able with a team.  At 15 miles per gallon, and $4 a gallon, thats $476 each way for 6 guys, or $160 round trip fuel each, plus the MINI van rental for a week with unlimited miles for $500 a week (don't tell them where we're going) or $85 each, so before food, hotel/camp, and jeep freight, $250 each this way.

I figure $1000 each at the best on the cheap.  What a country!

When the Jeep is actually done getting modded up, I can save money for trips instead of parts and I would love to go out there if at all possible.

I look for them to change it to 1/2 gallon or liter pricing so the pain is less mentally!

I've been out to Colorado for the past 2 years in the Winter season though.  Everything is snow covered and that seems like it'd be fun.  I want to wheel out there.

When gas gets to $6 a gallon they will drop it to 3.50 and we will all be so happy that gas is cheap again while the"Big Oil" celebrate yet another year of record profit....  nln you... Big Oil... nln you

when i was in Iraq last year they were selling gas there for about .78 a gallon when I first got there now its like .50cents a gallon... people were selling it on the streets, I would never buy any cause you just don't know what else is mixed in there, plus at the gas stations there was always drive by shootings.. ~>}

Well if gas was that cheap in Macon I would make an armor box out of 1/4" steel and fill up all my rides.
