Gonna change to rubicon coils... are they hard to fit by chance?
-
answer... plz... are rubicon coils hard to fit on a TJ
-
They are the same as any tj coil. Some have a different spring rate but dont expect to get any lift unless your springs are sagged. I think matt put some on a 4cyl jeep and didnt even get an inch.
-
is it hard to put them in..... not to fit.... i have never put in a coil or spring they are stock ATM
-
yep i used them was only worth 5/8" and I am sure that is probably more to do with the engine size and not the fact that they came out of a rubicon. Lengths were identical, spring rate is different. I have a pic somewhere I will post comparing the two side by side.
-
I got about an inch on my TJ w/ a 2.5L when i put them on but my coils were sagging a bit.

x2 i was surprised when i pulled the ones off of my TJ and they looked nearly identical in size.
But to answer your question, no they are not too hard to pull off in my personal opinion. If you have not messed with that kind of stuff you may think its a pain but I think they are easy. I should have a pic of the coils next to each other around somewhere i'll see if i can find it.

Sorry no pics with the rubi and oem coils.
I have pics of the rubi and the 4" lift coils ;D
Also a pic of the rear rubi coil on the ground after it came out during some wheeling :-\
-
{btt} As far as getting them in, it is an easy process. Disconnect the front axle and either let it flex all out and remove by having someone stand on the side or you can use a forklift to raise one side on the rear to let the spring sag. I changed mine in under 5 minutes.
-
a bottle jack on top of the axle helps too if you need more room. I got an inch or so out of mine, but mine may have been sagging too.
-
Just jack up on the axle on the opposite side your working on. This makes the opposing side sag even more. Super easy.
-
Matt you know why you only got 5/8's out of them right. That heavy azz powerplant
-
You squashed my springs you ass! Oh well {toast}

How? I get the impression the first offroading he did was at morris not too far back! :D

That may be true, but he did his fair share of curb climbing in the Publix parking lot throughout the last year I'm sure.
-
That always puts a strain on the ol coils! :D

Best way to break them in apart from ACTUALLY wheeling them, ADAM!
-
I have a set of Rubicon Unlimited coils that I may part with. Anyone interested?

Letting his 300 pound winch sit on them in the drive way for so long.

Funny. That's a serious winch!
-
well maybe not 300lb but its definitely a serious winch/compressor...
-
That's right he has the full repair shop on hand. That thing has to weigh atleast 100#s!
-
Let's just say, it weighs a lot. Trying to put it on the bumper with Adam helping is pretty much like doing it yourself.
-
Your mean! :D
