My neighbor has a truck for sale. He's had it about 3 months. It's got 276k on the body. The motor and transmission was supposedly replaced, miles unknown.
It's a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 2wd SLT with the 5.9. He's asking $2500 obo.
I've thought about offering 2k & see if he takes it. Or should I just forget about it?
The only thing really wrong with it is the drivers seat is like a brick and the oil Guage will drop, blip the throttle & it returns to normal.
Thoughts?

2wd quarter ton? Wouldn't be my first choice.

Why is your neighbor selling it?

That oil gauge thing happens on my 4.0...4.0 don't care.
That don't care thing may not be true, since I now have an oil leak, likely around the valve cover. I guess I'll find out at Gulches.

Not my first choice either but it's better than nothing.

11 mpg? He said he didn't need it & a coworker picks him up every morning.

I had a similar truck although it had 100k less miles in it.
Good overall truck. Would pull about 8000 pounds but would lag on the hills. You would want airbags for the rear and a good trans cooler. Even then, you would not want to hammer on it when you were pulling.

Thanks.

Oil sending unit. Simple fix, did it on mine. It's better to have it working vs a real issue and a new motor.

Definitely.
I think I'm going to pass.
