Sure seems like there would be a lot less to repair after a roll with an external cage,
and a lower cost with less severe damage,
but I hate the thought of the weight up high,
but is there really that much difference in internal and external cage weight and position?

I like the look of that jeep.

I don't think the weight would be a big deal.
That particular exo would save your windshield and hood most likely.
If you like it, go for it.
-
A lot would depend on what rocks you hit during the roll/flop.
Tim Kirk just finished an exo-cage JKU on tons very similar to that one

I'm extremely careful wheeling and with comments about flops and rolls. Don't want to tease the gods of karma. If you off road, its like riding your Harley. There are those that have laid down and those that will. Always use caution. Be safe.
This is about reducing the ability to drive home and reducing costs to repair.
Kirk, I get that, one pointed jagged rock can mess up a lot, or through the windshield and into me is bad either way.
Clark is it the color scheme?

Not that I really care but my cage might have saved me a dented (er) door, fender & rear quater panel damage. If you flop/roll on rocks all best are off.
My XJ weights 1k lbs more than a stock XJ. Even with the family & gear I can't really tell it. But throw the 100 lbs spare on top & it will sway. It's bad due to fact that I don't have swaybars. But I manage.
Another key aspect about a exo is that you loose zero space in the cab, don't hit your head on it, .... etc.
I love my exo & so do the kids. Anyone notice how they used it like a jungle gym when we were at the drivers meeting @ Gulches? They play on it @ home too.

I think its something to consider for sure. I think itll protect the body way more than an internal, but as Kirk said, it all depends what you roll into.
-
I did it , less for the rig, and more for Me. helpful if the jeep takes less damage, but in the end, the cage is more for ME! just my .02
some rigs look nice with and external. personally i dont like that look on a JK. or JKU. but thats just me.

I bet it is a pain to put the top on, or take it off.

I agree with Don..
