Would just like to say that Facebook (and a lot of the Internet in general) drives me nuts. The negativity, the personal attacks it's just sad. In regards to the illegal wheel post this week on the Facebook group I'd just like to give props to Kevin. He took the high road and that's one of the things that makes me really enjoy this club. It's about the friendship, the wheeling and helping each other out.
-
I agree. The disrespect that's posted on FB towards him is appalling. I was getting more and more pissed as I kept reading.
Kudos Kevin as you could have easily went off on the couple of people.

I am getting ready to delete the FB post. You will never make them understand. All those trails under the power lines are illegal

Hate i missed all that and Kevin will be added as staff on Facebook too. Those folks are going to be blocked from Facebook if they cross the line. That one guy touched it and Kevin killed him taking the high road. They will never listen or change

There is a county roadway under parts of the power lines there that is legal. I did the research a few years ago and checked it out.

What's Facebook?
-
thanks everyone....

It's that social media gathering hole where you go and spill your beans to everyone that doesn't really care, until you say something they don't agree with and then call you all kinds of names, even though they don't know who you are or what your background is.

I just found it to be a place where of you didn't follow someone closely, they don't know who you are. I ran out of time to associate with a bunch of people.

I would be glad if we made the FaceBook page either secret or private or whatever we need to do to keep the Georgia Jeeper idiots out.

We delete and block as needed. The FB page gives us a way to continue to welcome new people and educate the dum masses.

just delete the whole thing, you cant educate that kind of stupid. if they cant pay club dues, and or login as a visitor then F em. Does anyone really wanna ride with any of that bunch anyways? negative. That kind of stupid is dangerous.

I think we have some good members that found us on FB
And it keeps us humble and appreciative
-
Maybe we start posting more on there. Ride schedule, park info, core ride selections, etc.
-
I would be afraid random folks would show up & "act as they do on Facebook".
I assumed the reason for Facebook was to steer them toward the website. But what do I know?

Don't care for that......
Jay you ever went on the Jan ride when it was posted?
Didn't we have like 75 a couple years ago ....small handful
stuck around.....

Good point. I meant more for information. People need to learn more about parks, etc.
-
Peeps b scared of parks.
-
Post the carnage pics there - that will settle it

That was my first ride, I stuck around and have learned many many things and met some great people.
-
That was the first time I meet Justin @Jeeptrk
not sure if that was his first ride though....

was my first ride with the club, not first ride. found the forum before the facebook, i was google-ing "off road clubs near me" if i remember correctly.
i still say its more hassle than good, but thats prob why im not staff, its only an opinion. I definitely agree with @Big Dave most internet folks are scared to death of a real park, they dont have a clue what real wheeling is. Ive been trying to get some friends and locals to just go to AOP and ride the easy stuff, but nope, they rather wheel the illegal stuff or cross a rut on Tray mountain and brag about how they didnt break.

If there wasn't a FB page for GATR, how would we attract people like this?

Ben's ride is looking good

Now that was funny !!
-
facebook wasn't where I found the club
-
Me either. I don't do FB.
Kevin was my inspiration to join this club. Thank you sir.
-
Maybe just put a paragraph in the ABOUT section. Mention that GATR is a serious offroad club and not keen on the mall crawler crowd - but in a nice way - and allow me to stay. //LMAO//
-
Like a few others here, I found this club doing an online search for Jeep clubs. I found a few others who I will not mention their names and decided real quick I didn't want to associate with that kind of crowd.
I use face book for a few reasons:
1. To keep in contact with several of the OCN's I got to work with while deployed.
2. To find funny/cool pictures or meme's.
3. To watch as liberal heads continue to explode after the political happenings of the last year. Really quite amusing.
