There's a lot of stupid 'for looks' things out there for sure. I think it should be lumped into "whatever floats your boat" and it's not for everyone right/wrong/good/bad/whatever it may be.
The Jeep market is rich with the guys who want to blow their money on useless crap or that is crap that can bought for a fraction of the cost ;)

How does the strength compare to the traditional "round" (assuming the same material/weight/size)?
-
Says 18,000 lb but I would rather have the standard more round rings for the angles we sometimes pull with and the fact that hooks have rounded edges so they fit well. This seems like the hook would not make contact well with the entire ring.

That would look cool on my bumper at the next Caffeine and Octane show for sure. Color almost matches my Jeep too.

I don't want to ever find out.

And all this time I thought it was the steel cable that created the danger and not the hook.
-
Ahh $#!t, I was thinking of hooks on tow straps not winch hooks.
-
Both. I don't trust any strap with hooks. I carry one but its for the random stranger who wants to "borrow" a strap. I don't mind not seeing it again.

Savage.

Yeah a tow strap or snatch line with a hook is no bueno. Glad we cleared all that up ha ha.
