Wanting to switch over I'm running a engo 9000lb
winch. What length, diameter, and maker should I look for or stay away from??

I have 3/8" diameter, but 5/16" is OK as well, and you can run a longer rope. I recommend a thimble rather than a hook.

Viking and Masterpull are great quality. When you are depending on your winch line, it's not something to skimp on IMO.

It's a tough decision. I went with amsteel blue 3/8" x 60'. I did the short length since I figured I was in the Southeast where trees are plentiful, I have a 30' strap, and I wanted maximum pulling power from my winch (less wraps = more power). It is actually a bit too short, so next time I'll go 75'. The 3/8" was probably overkill, but I didn't want to chance going with 1/4".and regretting it.
I think I went through Midwest rope supply, or something like that.
I'll never order warn spydura crap.

You'll need to swap out the fairlead as well.

100ft minimum for me. I would rather have more on the drum and we sometimes have some recoveries that need snatch blocks and such.
