Title: Saturday night meal at Tellico
Post by: Chris Hyde on June 18, 2008, 10:05:07 AM
Ok guys, I am planning on us having a fairly nice hangout and meal Saturday evening, so I am kinda wondering if we can get a few folks to commit to bring some goodies.

Here is what I was thinking and please post ONLY if you can bring an item.

1. 5lb ground beef - Chris
2. 5lb ground beef - Rotorhead
3. 20 hotdogs - Doug
4. 20 hotdog buns - Doug
5. 20 hamburger buns - Rotorhead
6. 3 family sized cans of bbq baked beans - Chris
7. 3 family sized bags of chips - Will
8. 1 bottle of Ketchup, Mustard and Mayo - Ben H
9. 1 each - Lettuce, Burger Pickles and large cole slaw - Krawler00
10. 12 pack of Coke, Dr. Pepper and Sprite - Rotorhead & Ben H
11. 30 plastic spoons, knives and forks - Doug
12. 2 roll papertowels and 1 pack of napkins - Matt
13.  30 paper plates and plastic cups - Matt
14.  Grill utensils - Rotorhead
15.  1 large bag of presoaked charcoal - Will
16.  3 bags of ice - Will

If you would like to have grilled chicken or a steak, you can bring it above and beyond and we can throw it on the grill also.

There is the Jeep Pit, and also a pole campground style grill at each cabin.  She said it's a pain to lug the stuff down to the creek to the Jeep pit, and I told her it would be a pleasure for us!  The guys that don't bring, can sling!

Yuengling Black and Tan kicks ass!  I was in Daytona last week and that is all I drank (plus a bottle of scotch and a bottle of vodka).  Can you buy Yuengling anywhere in GA???

I always have enough beer to share (as long as you have beer to share when mine is gone)! ;)

So far everything is a go for Tellico (knock on wood).

Irish Carbombs! Very farmiliar with those, but that's the only time I drink Guiness. I haven't found Yeungling anywhere in GA. We always pick some up when visiting friends in South Carolina. Stella is my favorite beer, but Coors light hits the wallet/tastebuds right  ;)

So ready for this trip!

Yeungling is amazingly cheap for what it is.  I was paying $11 a 12-pack in Florida but here in GA I usually get a 6-pack of Smithwicks or Guiness and a 20-pack of Mich Ultra Amber.  I'll drink 1 or 2 good beers then a couple of alright beers.

I'm in the same position bud, I'll be cutting it close on the way back with gas  :D I don't mind paying you for a few. Heck, you should bring some to every ride and you'd probably make money  :)

I just payed $40 shipping on a $30 driveshaft flange...  :bs)

Well gotta have it so I can get the Jeep on the road. I want at least a day to work out any last minute quirks... it hasn't been on the street since I finished the lift and rear axle...

I want to smack myself for waiting until the last minute to order this thing...  {;-(}

I'm ready for some Tellico dudes!  :D

Know what you mean about the parts. I really anxious about whether my parts for my lift will get here in time or not for Tellico. If not, not a big deal but I really want them to be here soon. But if they are not here by at least Thursday, then I'm still on a spacer lift.

Talked to Chris today last night about the ride. Will, I think Friday we are gonna head up the bus to helicopter then to guardrail. It is alot more fun heading up the bus! Man, I can't wait!!!! Have you flexed that beast out any? Gotta atleast post a pic! I think we will end up splitting the group for those who want to do the big boy stuff and are built for it and those who want to ride around on easier stuff. But whatever! I am just ready to go!!!!! MAKE SURE IF YOU WANT SOME BREW YOU GET IT WELL BEFORE MURPHY! IT IS A DRY BUTT TOWN, LEARNED THE THIRSTY WAY! Can't wait for the cookout either and some R&R. I have been doing nothing at work but making my list of things to bring and sneeking in videos of tellico off youtube! :D

As for the ride I guess I will post up a time section for all to sign in at what time they think they will be up. Some may have to miss Fridays ride. But hey, we got all day saturday too! I will probably be wheelin sunday as well. Go find a nice spot to sit for a few hours up there. I sat at fains ford for a few hours last time Briggs and I went.

haha, no, but when I get back from Tellico I'm making a receiver for a flag pole on my tire carrier behind the tire. I've got a 6'x4' black flag that I'll be flying this football season  :P

I painted the axle in a high gloss industrial epoxy. Same stuff that we paint some of our industrial filtration canisters with. It looks really good under the Jeep. The pictures don't really do it justice.

I think I will probably ride shotty with one of ya'll on the night ride since I have never been on those trails and I know my Jeep isn't ready for them either.

And whenever I can get some new diff. covers, I'm thinking about painting them orange and putting a Power T on them.

ha, thanks man.   :) One thing I forgot was to weld some tabes or nuts on the tubes for some limiting straps. Because I have no track bar, when the rear tires come off the ground and the axle droops the springs fall out  :-\ I'm an idiot for not thinking about that, but as long as the bumpstops are set, I should be alright at Tellico. Better not jump anything before I get back though  :D I may rig up some set belts or something before this weekend.

You'll need something at Tellico unless the springs only pop out when both sides are at full droop. Don't forget about flex. Are your shocks too long? Any problem with full stuff?
Title: Re: Saturday night meal at Tellico
Post by: Krawler00 on June 24, 2008, 03:49:42 PM
Good call Rotor. If your shocks are shorter than your spring droop you should be fine. Hate to flex that thing and the rear spring falls out! :D Make for a long day. I also need some straps for mine. My shocks are the limiters now and I know that can't last forever. Post up some flex shots!!

Will, get some rear spring post extensions if you can. I don't know if the TJs are the same as ZJs but I'm pretty sure they are but there is post that comes down in the center of the coil from the top but it is not very long. Get a peice of pipe or something and ever weld it on or get RTV or similar and glue it on. When ever the coil becomes unseated, it will remain where is suppose to be because the post is still inside the coil. Plus, it doesn't have to be that strong because gravity is the only force acting on it. I can get a picture of what I am talking about if you want.

Will, definitely try to get something worked out so the springs dont fall out.  We spent about an hour total one time (3-4 times) stopping and putting springs back in a guys Jeep and it sucked.

You don't want any problems. I spent about 4 hours tonight trying to fix a leak in my gas tank from where the exhaust melted into the side of the poly tank. Fixed it once then tonight I noticed seeping. GREAT! I had to cut my exhaust by about 6", cut the non stock hangar off, take the shock out from the top and use a freakin hack saw to cut the pipe. Tight space and could not get my sawzaw in there. Got about 4" to saw by hand! FUN! Now my exhaust is loose and have to have my buddy weld a hangar underneath tommorrow. Wno cares though... 2 days for me and I am at TELLICO BABY!
