Title: Greetings from Moab
Post by: classified on April 28, 2024, 04:08:28 AM
This was a moderate trail we did. It was about all our stock jeep wanted

We did another road that was real tame, until it started raining and snowing. I went from 40mph to 4L 1st gear in the blink of an eye. It was still all I could do to keep it in the road.
Behind us the road had turned to a river and everything around it went from red to white
We drove like that for 30 min before the road went back to gravel from dirt. It was still slick getting back to pavement. By that time it was dark and we headed back to Co.

Snow pick is from Grand Mesa in Co. That's a frozen lake at the top of the mountain

Only place Sara had not seen yet was the sand dunes.
So we started to cannonball there Sunday night when we got caught in a blizzard around Breckenridge and had to stay in Frisco. Picture doesn't do it justice.
We still made it to the dunes and got to do about a third of the 4x4 trail. After the 4th creek crossing it was closed.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240430/81ddeedec5d4bf74d3f46d9262e7a49b.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240430/fa565bb86ff846b00ae02a4fec167a82.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240430/a8ed19546729696319de562be333fab1.jpg)

Where are the dunes at?

Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. It's south west of Pueblo close to Alamosa. Beautiful area.

Madeno Pass is the 4x4 trail. I don't think the upper part of the trail is open until May 15 like everything else. But for good reason. We saw how fast a little weather can change conditions quick.
