Title: Awesome Custom Hi Lift mount for spare tire $35
Post by: DOUG on November 15, 2008, 04:51:17 PM
$35 Made for a TJ and is 5 x 4.5 lug pattern.
Remove the pin and separate the bracket halves,
Remove your spare,
Place the bracket over the studs, replace the spare, and tighten,
Lower the air pressure in the spare,
Slide the other have in and insert pin,
Mount Hi-Lift jack,
Inflate spare for a secure, rattle free mount.

Set up for a 12.50 tire, but can be re drilled or washered for your tire easily.

I assume its for a 4.5x5 bolt pattern, not the 5x5 JK?

Great question!  I've never mounted it, and it was supposed to be, so I assume it is too!  I'll check tonight.

Hey doug, do ya have a picture of what this looks like mounted by any chance?

Lower the air pressure in the spare,
Slide the other have in and insert pin,
Mount Hi-Lift jack,
Inflate spare for a secure, rattle free mount.

I'm assuming you just deflate the spare to install the mount, if you want to take the hi lift out for use do you have to?

Hey, yeah, you want the pin to hold the hi lift tight so that when you air up the spare, after the bolts are tight, the hi lift can't move or rattle, but if you loosen the bolts it comes right off.  You don't have to deflate, you could just put it on and tighten the bolts, but it's a much easier install if you deflate.

Yes, it is made for a TJ and is 5 x 4.5.  Thanks!
