Title: River Rock pics from today
Post by: Krawler00 on November 22, 2008, 08:20:05 PM
Got back a little bit ago and figured I would post up the pics I got. I did not wheel my Jeep, but did wheel Mikes! Man, that thing is like riding a huge marshmallow! Bumps, what bumps! Will, Jimmy, Richard and Kyle rode along with a good many others today. Carnage report was, Jimmy broke a ujoint, I tapped a rock against Mikes license plate mount and it cracked. >:( That sucked but Mike can now buy corners! ;)Great time! Anyway, here are the pics...

Sweet pictures. I wish I hadn't broken that damn bearing cap so I could have ridden 7 with y'all. I hope the dude in the Bronco (forget his name) joins up; he seems like a good guy.

I rode with Mike on Friday. I had a great time, I agree with Ben on how the Rubi rides. I want to say thanks to Mike for letting me tag along. Sorry I didn't get the XJ repaired before the weekend but that is the way it goes. Here is the link to the few pictures I took on Friday. I will add that Mike got cudos from a "Yota" group that we rode with that he was the first Jeep thant hung with them that didn't break.

I think it really did take half the day to get through that mud...at least it felt like it.

This is the mud pit that everyone drove through the first time we went to Doug's:

Kyle, your jeep makes me laugh, it was spotless the first time i saw it a few months ago.  Now it looks like it has some dents and scratches.  Good to see you are enjoying the hobby  ;D

I broke the passenger side u-joint in the 30. Well, the u-joint didn't actually break, but one of the caps cracked and started to back out of the shaft. Fortunately, Richard noticed it before it fell out or else it probably would have taken out the joint and the inner and outer shaft. Will and I have both lost a u-joint on both driver and passenger side now. 3 out of the 4 times it has damaged the shafts as well. So ya, it'll probably happen, lol.

I am jealous as usuall.

Either Mike has gotten tall or skinny or someone has stretched and painted there jeep to look like a JK.

Look like a sloppy day of fun. Kyle got you some new kicks I see.

Richard did you get some RR revenge?

A small tack weld on those caps will keep them from killing the shafts.

Awesome time guys! as always. The meal on Saturday night was great. A 100 pound hog, 6 turkeys, potato salad, and baked beans were on the menu.

The guys from Wilson's 4x4 are super guys! They paid for all of the food and also put on a crazy raffle. They must have given away thousands of dollars of stuff; high lift jacks, a lift kit, shirts, gift certificates. Mike won a $50 gift certificate to Wilson's and a shirt. I won a set of grab handles and a set of roll bar padding.

Today Mike let me take the JK up the nasty rock garden at the tail end of Tiger Pit that moves up towards the shop. Steve broke out the red TJ and showed Mike how to use the skinny pedal  ;D  And Mike got to drive Steve's TJ for awhile too. Can't wait to do it again!

Thanks again for everyone who came out and made this another awesome weekend of wheeling!

Just got home and all I can say is, Wow, what a great weekend. It was dry all weekend, but really cold at night. We stayed toasty in the camper though. I met a lot of really cool people. Everybody was super friendly and we spent some late nights by the fire telling lies and laughing our tails off.

We need to schedule a ride to coincide with their event next year. Dan, the owner of Wilson's 4x4 really wants us to and I think it would be a blast. It will be the same time. They always have it the week before Thanksgiving.

Steve's red TJ is a beast. I got to drive it today and now I'm ready to sell the JK and built a for real rock buggy. It might take a few days to shake that one off, but it was a lot of fun. I also rode with Steve on some crazy stuff and lets just say he ain't scared to hammer that 350 down.

Ben and Will did a great job driving my Jeep. Now the secret's gonna get out. It ain't got nothing to do with me. It's all Jeep.  {toast}

I only took about 10 pictures all weekend. I'll post them up tomorrow. Thanks for everybody that came out.

Pssshh, it slaps the TJs around and he knows how to drive it. That's why he's so capable.

Ben, you also had some time to get used to it by the time you got into some bumping situations. Mike threw me into a nasty, wet rock garden and I couldn't get a feel for the throttle. I was really timid with the skinny at first and when I gave her enough gas to get up I didn't get out of it early enough. The 4:1 launches the piss out of you on flat ground  :D It's definitely got traction. Makes me really want a rear locker.  :'(

haha, yeah I agree. And one of the things that's better with a TJ wheelbase is backing up and getting a new line. It's hard to maneuver the 4 doors when you're in a tight spot.

Actually I was kind of surprised at how well they did given the lack of rocks down south. Most of them guys seem to have been making some road trips.
