Mike
-
Taxes are A LOT in GA for new JEEPS. Go to the tag office in yo area.
-
lets see you will need drivers license, insurance card and the registration that shows make, model, vin, ect. O and money... cost me $324 to renew the tags in Smyrna. Yours might be more or less depending on taxes in your county.
-
why would i pay taxes?? i paid the tax on the jeep in hawaii...so why would i pay taxes here when i dont pay state taxes here either... i am a resident of the state of Iowa
-
GO TO THE TAG OFFICE they will HELP you with the reg and tag. But I think you will have to pay Ga taxes on the Jeep since you have it reg. here
-
thats crap to pay taxes twice on the same thing...
-
Yeah yeah yeah FAIR TAX
-
still need to find out where to go.... where do i go in Augusta.. i have looked and looked.. cant find where i need to go and its due this month
-
Go here.
http://www.augustaga.gov/departments/tco/motor.asp
It gives 2 locations in the first paragraph. That "SHOULD" be it but never been to Augusta.
-
ok once again...
Active duty military
Did not buy the jeep here but in Hawaii... paid taxes on it there...
NOT A RESIDENT of GEORIGA...i dont pay taxes in GEORIGA..not state not local.. only time i pay taxes here is when I BUY something... I pay taxes to the state of IOWA.. so why on GOD's GREEN EARTH would I have to PAY TAXES ON A JEEP THAT WASNT EVEN BOUGHT IN GEORIGA.... and wtf does FAIR TAX mean??? there are laws agaist paying taxes on things twice.. hell i might as well ship the freakin thing back to Hawaii it might be easier..
I dont even have a real GA address... I live on FED LAND in FED HOUSING... this doesnt make sence to me at all...
-
Mike if you have Iowa license, you should really register it in Iowa, to register it here I think they will make you get a Ga. DL. The taxes that keep coming up aren't sales tax it's Ga. Ad Valorem tax. It's paid yearly with your tag, BS but that's the way it is. Here is a link http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/motor/registration/militaryreg.asp
Hope this helps.
-
It is BS Mark and Doug you are right... its like double taxation. When you buy a car here they get your zip code to charge your county's tax rate BUT then every year you have to pay tax based on vehile value and other things on the tag.... This doesn't apply to you since you are a non-resident of the state but just letting you know how jacked up it is in GA. So we get to pay tax on the vehicle purchase and then tax each year on the tag :bs)
-
Thats going to kill that E6 paycheck!! I had the luxury tax in San Diego as well. It does suck and is a scam!
-
MikieD, it's only a few hundred bucks. But it :bs)
-
ok so i talked to a fw people at PT this morning... some good news i guess... they are saying it will be about 40bucks or so.. i will have to go down and see it for my self... if its 40 bucks i will be very very happy.... if i have to pay 400 i will be the guy in the tower...
-
Why not just register it in Iowa?
-
Why not just register it in Iowa?
x2...
-
cause that means i would have to travel back to Iowa...

You sure they won't do it through the mail? Most states have provisions set in place for active duty military. If not, a road trip might be cheaper than doing it in Georgia. The advalorum tax is a killer here. Somehow somebody decided it would be a great idea to make us pay psudosales tax each and every year.
-
found out its 40 bucks for my plate and tag here in GA

Can't beat that. Mine was 10 times that much. {toast}
-
Thats because they found out your an E6 Aviation Cook. And you probably begged them for a military discount. LOL!!! 40$? Thats your jump pay there ain't it Rusty Shackleford!!!hahahah
-
you freakin puddle jumper

That's cool MikeD, glad it's going to work for ya. On the subject of BS taxes, paying property tax on a boat is my all time favorite. You pay it just like on a house, school tax and all, we don't even have a lake in my county I can run it in. I know that Doug can relate to this one, that is one reason I sold all of my boats but the bass boat.
-
say what????......on a boat???
-
say what????......on a boat???
Yep, and you still get to pay the taxes on the tag for the trailer. Ain't it cool.

Yep, every boat gets a personal property tax bill from the county, and they get the records from the boat registration (another tax), and you have to pay a small tax on the trailer to get a tag. And fuel tax when you buy gas. We paya lot more taxes than income tax.
{btt}
Active military shouldn't pay a dime. Contractors should pay double. ;D
-
The boat tax sux its a luxury tax plain and simple.
-
Doug-
I pay a shi* ton in taxes and my own health coverage and I have been audited! So I don't want to hear about it. Military should'nt be taxed, but Dewild could always deploy! ;D Oh, Dewild, unless you go Warrant, you ain't gonna have a boat anyways!!!hahahaha

LOL!
Man I know. I've found some ways to reduce my tax burden, but it means you have to "spend" it certain ways that will benefit later. (I hope, changes in tax law will screw everything up)
Audit? Bad news! Did they want a check?
-
Yeah, it was a year ago and it was stressful. I have IRS agent buddies and just to clarify, it not agents your speaking with on the phone. Its usually some shi*bag reading a off a computer monitor and thats it. They dinged me for 36K. I told them they were high and to go FU**themsleves. You can meet in the middle with them and I know a bunch of people who don't pay taxes. But I like having the ability to hold a clearence and no questions asked when I apply for a gig. I have thought of C-corp and S-corp, but its all BS in my trade.
-
and that is the reason i like what i make(cough bullshit)(cough) cause mister tax man wont waste his time with me...and H&R does mine...
-
I see you on this side of the fence in......April/May. Bets anyone? If you pass selection!!! boy, if you don't I am going to buy you a FU****G fruit basket!!!LOL
-
They dinged me for 36K.
Ouch! So they took half? That's a great deal if they did!
-
This is a big part of why I don't get into flashy stuff, or "look what I have" conversations. Because, I really don't care! I am here to lend a hand and most of all have integrity. If I can't do something, there is always a valid reason! At the end of the day, we are all one paycheck from poverty or have been at one time. I just want to have fun and all of us to look at each other as friends and equals! Except for Dewild, douchebag!LOL!!
-
ok so i got my plate and tag... cost me $68 bucks cause i got a special plate.... took about 2hrs... didnt know the wife had to be there so i had to call her and have her come down. all in all kinda easy kinda cheap... the guy told me since i am military it saved me over 250 bucks... said yea thanks ...
Glen your such a fag... hey pretty boy its thursday so i know what you will be doing tonight.... they always have the pretty one be the bitch... hahahahahahaaha fucker
