Title: New ORV park opening in clemson
Post by: Alex on December 09, 2008, 10:36:34 PM
Well a park is opening about 10 min from Clemson.  I am going tomorrow to check it out and help with the trail cutting.  I will take some pictures.  It isnt open yet and doesn't have much to offer but it should be up and running very soon.

Cool stuff! Clemson is only 120 miles from Augusta I think, so it'll be a good place to go when I visit the folks.

Well i went out today and had a blast.  It is going to be huge, 280 acres.  We only rode about about 50.  It is very rocky terrain and is going to be a blast when it is finished.  It was poring down rain the whole time so i didn't get any pics but lets just say the km2's are awesome in the muddy stuff.  The one trail that we rode was s steep 100 yard hill climb with  2 man made 6' high humps in the middle.  Only me and brooks made it but the rev limiter was reached by both of us as traction was no where to be found {nln}.  I am nut use to spinning tires and actually moving forward haha.

I did a lot of spinning today too. I only agreed to go mudding cause it was gonna be raining all day and most of it will wash itself off  {nln}

I actually think my BFGs had more traction in wet mud than the Maxxis. I had some trouble getting up a few climbs. There is a small creek that we always cross, but I was the only one to brave it today. Hard rock on the bottom, but the thing was freakin RAGGING today. It completely covered the 35s. Man it was fun!  ;D

Sounds good Alex! Can't wait to see the pics of this place.

I think it is about 2 or so hours from Atlanta. from what it sounds like, he just wants people to come run the trail and help brake it in.  He has most of the trails cut but still has to put in the connector trails with more difficult stuff.

Have ya'll been to Durhantown? its a local park that needs support also and new ideas and suggestions to make it an offroad destination

The owner has 3000 acres dedicated to the offroad park. Thats a SUBSTANTIAL amount of land compared to the other parks

He has plenty of money for rocks, plenty of equipment to form trails. he just needs the support...

If anyone wants to join us, we'll be heading up there Jan 10th
