Us homos?  I'm not the one wanting to see Adam's blue balls...  ;D

And if you're refering to his actual Jeep, you could've just been like "Adam, when are you gonna make it out on another ride, douche bag?"  Not, "Adam, I haven't seen your blue balls since Moab...  I miss 'em...  :'("

Do you want Driver side drop front or Passanger side drop?
Do you want Ball joint or King Pin front?

Do you want a full floater 14 bolt? I know where one is right now with LSD in it.

You know, I might be the only person on here who can actually say that I talked to Adam, face-to-face about this.  He told me, everyone else (Matt and Ben) can suck it, 'cause I'm getting that 44 for the front of the Ranger.  He said you 2 could fight it out over the rear 44.  :D

You won't mess with me because I'm unkempt?  You mean, my fighting is off the wall and you won't know which direction your knockout is coming from, right?  That's what it is.  I'm far from unkempt........... fella.

Sure, I'm like titlemax, just let me hold the Rubi title and a lien doc.

Seriously, they are selling for that nationally.  They are getting fewer and the price is headed up.  I'm sure he'll cut ya some slack.   $1000 would be a screaming good deal.

So did you work out a deal with my friend?

Going to be very hard to find the 78-79 front for a decent price.I have seen two for sale in the last 3-4 years. One of those is under my Tj (Thanks Doug  ;D )and the other is under Jimmy's Xj. 87 to 91 is your next best bet for a king pin, little less room on the driver side but still a great axle to use.

Maybe, I got another guy in rockmart that is a little closer that only wants 200 for his 14 bolt. Your guy said $400 but he would take other offers so I will call chad in the am saturday and see if we can work a deal since he is a little further than rockmart.

You could prob. part it and get some of your money back, I found Jimmy the same truck here in Atl for $500, that is a deal that aint gonnna ever happen again. Ask for pictures of the front end before you drive down there. Snowfighter edition is rare.

I think it should be a 70. Adam, see if he can get you the BOM numbers off the axles. Rear should be 603935 if its a 70 and front should be 610023 if its a 60. You should be able to get some money back off the motor since it runs, but you still might end up paying $1500ish for the axles.

Well, you didn't really ask me, but I guess I'm glad you didn't.  This is all the more reason for me to get rid of a truck all together.  Since I'm the only person anyone seems to know with a truck, I'm automatically the one called to go pick crap up.

I thought you said you would ask Joe to use his truck.  I already told you that I think a wheel bearing is going out and a CV axle...

Will a 89 F350 front dana 60 work?

and

how strong is a 10.25 sterling rear?
Title: Re: BIG AXLES
Post by: Jimmy on December 11, 2009, 05:40:30 PM
I think those are the years with the REALLY narrow driver side axle tube.

Sterling is strong, but parts aren't as common (ie cheap) as for 60s, 70s and 14 bolts.

What Jimmy said, but if you are going coil overs up front I don't think you will have many issues.

either coil overs or air shocks.

the pinion is fine though right?

I believe they are high pinion if thats what you're asking.
Title: Re: BIG AXLES
Post by: ADAM on December 11, 2009, 07:19:07 PM
no i should have been more specific

The pinion center line to knuckle center line is about 3.5" more to drivers side than 78-79.
Will this affect how it bolts up to the transfer case?
Title: Re: BIG AXLES
Post by: Alex on December 11, 2009, 08:46:56 PM
No it will not be a problem.  there are a few people on pirates that are using them.  As long as you are not going to use coils, you should be fine

I'm convinced that ball joints are OK for guys like us.  I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have them and that they aren't better, but just not necessary for guys like us....    Now if you're building a comp buggy....
