Title: opinions wanted
Post by: GusaGus on September 10, 2009, 04:14:33 PM
recently i was in a minor wreck in the dodge.  now the insurance company wants to give me a check for a lilttle over 2500.00.  now i have a few options, i could go down to the body shop and get the minor stuff fixed like i'm supposed to, or get a new set of tires and bank the rest, or a stak 3 speed t-case, or atlas 4 speed, or trade my truck for a 2500 and use the 2500.00 as a down payment, or......  i guess i'm looking for the most bling for the buck.

Atlas dude! Or 2500, that'd be fun too.

it would have been that way but she was uninsured, so it would have been like getting blood from a turnip.  luckily my insurance is picking up the tab and going after her.  had she been in a benz or something i would have had to go home in an ambulance after the wreck.

actually i'm leaning towards the stak mini monster 3 speed, partly due to the price of an atlas 4 speed, about a 500.00 difference.

another option is looking for a donor truck for my v-8 swap, to many options

How bad is the truck damage? If you can live with it, Jeep stuff. If its decent, I would get it fixed if you are thinking about trading for a 2500.

Its really not the noticeable unless you are looking for it. Fender has a small wrinkle, bumper pushed in a hair on the side. The kind of stuff that wouldn't affect trade in value.

Mike, did the girl get in deep shit for being uninsured? I remember Beth backed into a dude once, no damage to her but his hood was shaped like a V and his front bumper was about to fall off. He hopped out goes "uh, don't see no damage" and drove away. I still wonder if it was uninsured, stolen, or he was high. Either way, worked out for us!

Similar thing happened to me...twice.  Like a week after I got the Ranger, I was driving to work and was making a left turn and traffic was stopping immediately after the turn, the lady behind me hit me...so I was pretty pissed...6:45 in the a.m. and I've had my truck for a week, still has the drive-out tag.  So we get out and I didn't see any damage to my truck her's didn't appear to have any so we went along our merry way.  Then a while down the road, after I got my lift installed, I was making a right turn and yielding to traffic and this moron came up and hit me in the rear...again.  This time lucky enough, I had my d-ring so when he hit me, he ran up under my bumper and hit the d-ring and it dug in and put a nice little dent in his hood.  We got out and looked and he was like, "look, if you're alright with it, we can just go." I said "that's fine" and on we when. It was funny though.. made me chuckle afterwards.  I'm tired of people hitting me though, it's getting old.

At least the people have stopped for you.. I've been hit three times in my YJ and once in my JK and all have been drive-offs.

it doesn't really look like she got in any trouble.  she had something showing insuance, then after the fact i found out she ddin't and reported it to the cops, and was told they couldn't do anything since it was county and not city.

damage is minor really, pretty much like jimmy said pushed the bumper a little, cracked the grill, small wrinkle in the hood and fender, and tweaked the head light.

this is a hold up on going to a stak tcase.  if i go v-8 (magnum/hemi) then i need a new trans (NV4500), if i do that then where am i at on input to the new stak tcase.  sort of a chain reaction if i change one then i really need to change all.

Yeah, I guess you're right.  I suppose people hate people that drive American cars.  Forgot about that.
