Title: Getting a old Coke Cooler tonight
Post by: prjohnson on October 07, 2009, 03:58:10 PM
I like to tinker with antique/vintage things, but have never had too much space to do it.
Now I have a garage & the electrician is at my house right now wiring the garage up, so that means I can start my collection of toys to tinker with.
Tonight, I'm picking up a 50's era Coke Fridge to fix up & use in the gameroom, or by the pool.
Wondering if anyone else out here gets in to that sort of thing?
Post pics of your tinkering projects. I'll work on getting some pics up later.

We have an old Pepsi 2 door top loading electric cooler at my house in NY, always wanted to restore it but I think it is too far gone.  {ehm}

Kind of an annoying about the cooler.
Here's the story.
It was free on Craigslist, so I called the guy - was the first person to call.
He said I could have it & he would hold it until I got off from work. I even asked if he was sure & that if I needed to, I could pick it up right away.
He said it was fine, I said I would be there between five 30 & six, then he gave me his address.
I get to his house after work & he comes to the door, I tell him I'm there to pick up the cooler & he said "Ohh, that thing went a long time ago"
WTH? Thanks for letting me know you gave it away after telling me to pick it up.

People can be inconsiderate...

Really?  Was it an old guy who senility was getting the best of him?  I mean, did he not realize that you were talking about coming to pick up the cooler or what?

Wasn't old, I mean in his 50s.

What I think happened was someone contacted him offering him cash, which I don't care, but let me know, or maybe call me & see if I would be willing to pay a few bucks & I would have.

Yesterday morning I posted a free dryer on there, had about 60 emails in one hour.
I went down the list, the first three people said they wanted it, all three said they would pick it up & nobody showed, or even called.

How much time passed from the last time you spoke with him and told him you wanted it to the time you went to pick it up?

If you still want one, my grandfather was trying to sell his. I can call and see what he wants for it.

I'd keep that one like it is & use it for beer in the game room {letseat}
Old Coke bottles look to be around the same size as small beer bottles.
Checking doesn't hurt, but that one looks like it'll be more than I want to spend.

It would actually be perfect for cans.

I'll give him a call this weekend and ask what he wants for it though.

Wow, not cool of the guy at all. Sorry you got the run around on it.

Just talked to him today. He said he'd like to get 600 out of it and that it worked the last time it was plugged in.

Good deal, but that's a lot of Jeep parts.
I'll still tell my wife about it, because she might have a different idea.
We had the bright idea to expand our game room this weekend(I want to make room for a shuffle board. ;D), so the walls started coming down, so we're probably not going to spend money on toys these next few weeks.
