Pretty clean cut, if you have been to both Gulches and Uwharrie, please post up about which place you prefer and why.

I have a link up point on the way at a buddies house; he is close to URE. I will see if I can track him down. See what he says.

Been to neither. Not sure anyone in GATR has been to Uwharrie. I have a buddy up there, and he loves it. Much bigger place than Gulches, and a lot more rocks.
Just FYI, Uwharrie is closed December 15 thru April 1st.

Im pretty sure Gusagus has been to uwharrie. Shoot him a pm

He said that was his stompin' grounds before he moved down here.

yep been there, wheeled that. haven't been to the glutches though so i have no way to compare the two. Uwharrie is national forsest, in a dry county, and drinking is a big no no, even at camp at the end of the day. most trails are pretty easy but it all depends on the weather conditions, add a little rain a few days before, and the trails change. best time to go is towards the end of the season, dureing the closed months they groom the trails and opening day is like dirt roads.

Any input on Coal Creek? I saw it on the Hippie Forum.

AKA Windrock. Been there a few times. Some nice trails, and Rattle Rock Hill, and Baby Rattle Rock. HUGE rocks.

Never been to Gulches but have heard that its alot like Tellico as far as the terrian just not as big. I have been to Coal Creek really wasn't my cup of tea just to much trail riding to get to each obstacles, but I did have a blast when I took my four wheeler.

I am leaning towards Gulches based on what I have seen on other forums. {popcorn}

I wheeled gulches back when I was on 31's, my fuel pump didn't cooperate that trip, but it was still a lot of fun. there is a little bit for everyone. Keep in mind though, if you go when it has rained, he will not let you in the park unless you have at least one locker, otherwise you won't be able to make it back up the main hill.

Sounds fun boys!

Good input, thanks everyone. It looks like Gulches is the only place open anyway past December, or is it closed also?
RR is 3 hours from me, D town about 4, URE about 4 and Gulches about 3.
If Gulches is within the same for everyone and not too far, I say we plan for it.
I am not heavily modified but I do have enough to get me through and a winch if I need it. I am not into huge boulders or anything like that but I have gottten through RR just fine.
So, I will start another thread BUT if anyone knows if Gulches is open all year round please post it up so I can start a ride thread. If not Gulches, maybe RR would be best at this point. {toast}
