Let's just say there are a couple of political undertones, but it's something every American needs a little bit of at the moment I'd like to think. Not gonna say anything more. This movie is the future of movie making. You can't see it and not be amazed. Not gonna talk it up. :)

I liked the special effects......spectacular! {toast}
I care "0" about the liberal mindset....(sorry)...I am as NON politically correct as you will ever see or meet~!..but the concept is correct....Don't tread on me...don't try and bamboozle me and if you leave my stuff alone I will do the same!...A simple truth in lfe I'd think!
Those who have seen 2001 , A Space Odyssey, will recall that there were many things there that represented the Birth to Life and reversed if you think about it.
I had to see it afew times to get all they were potraying.
I met the artist who did all the set design for that back in the days it was filmed.....before many of you were born, he was a true visionary to have the detail he did at the time!
-
Well we'll have to start a discussion thread about it in a couple weeks and give folks some more chances to see it.
-
Yeah....I'm sure that will be ...uhhhh...interesting? ::)
Hope so anyway!
-
Watched it last night, cool, just hate that you have to wear glasses to get the 3d effects. I think you could watch it and not get any political undertones unless you look for them.
-
Yeah...I didn't look for that...just wanted to enjoy a night out without all the hoooplah! with the wife!
I eat, sleep and drink the political scene daily without having it encroach upon my social life yet!
-
Great Movie! :)

Only if your 10 year old or younger.
-
I'll stick to CNN if I want liberal undertones.
I'm gonna watch it tomorrow. For a special effects a movie I'm not going into it expecting Dead Poets Society story wise.

Think Dancing with Wolves more than Dead Poets Society you will be much closer to the plot.

I didnt think of that. Avatar is just a remake of dancing with wolves.

Was gonna take the kids, but their slow butts made us miss the showing. Maybe we'll see it in Knoxville with my bro this weekend.

Movie, cinematics and the overall spectacle are great! The way you are immersed into the world you really feel like you are 'in the movie'. It is suppposedly he first 'real' 3D movie and even the background and not just the characters in the front are 3D. It really looks amazing.
Unfortunately the plot leaves a lot to be desired. Very 'by the script' and didn't try anything different. Much as the dialogue was very cheesy. The uneeded corporation bashing and anti-war stuff just wasn't needed but I expected that from Hollywood.
With all that said it is a must see for now. Since nothing really new was tried no one will be repeating lines in 40 years like "Luke I am your father" and the current super funny animated show won't make a spoof of Avatar ;)

"You're not the only one with a gun, b*tch."
"I see you." - We already have a running joke with this one at work :D
-
well it looks like we have a decent copy on our network so i'll be watching it this after noon.
-
Watched it last night. Pretty good movie. The scenery more than made up for the lack of original story.
-
Finally went to see it. Went with some Jeeping friends. 3D IMAX is pretty cool. Took some time to adjust to them focusing your view for you.
Same as what's already been said. Special effects and cinematography are pretty awesome. Plot, dialogue, and characters are all direct copies from every influential story we grew up with. A couple of lines are almost word for word from Dances With Wolves. We all felt the music was too intrusive also. It interfered with scenes by bombasting your senses.
My 13 year old son said that between the shifting focus and the music they were dictating our experience instead of letting us interpret the story.
Gotta see it for the next evolution in special effects.

I'm probably going to wait and rent this one. Heard the cgi is awesome, but the plot is some where between 70's porno and Disney straight to video.

Quoted for truth.
I can wait to see this on blue ray for the graphics for a lot less (gotta love netflix).

Was an awesome movie! I saw it twice. I'm pretty conservative but I didn't notice too many political undertones...guess I can see where but I was into the movie pretty good lol.
My GF cried in a few spots haha.
Any movie that takes 10 years to make has to be good lol
