Title: Any drag strip guys here
Post by: ranger11 on May 26, 2010, 01:52:42 PM
I plan on taking the stang to Silver dollar on friday night. Anyone is welcome to attend. Maybe a long trip for some. It is 10.00 for spect. or 20 to run.

Jimmy I got it all put back together last night. Now to do something with all that Ryan style wiring. Then get some race ruel and spark plugs.

I used to go to commerce / Atlanta Dragway pretty regular. Pretty much just mess with the jeeps now. This was my toy.

Cool, give me a call if you go. I'll ride if I'm not doing anything.

I know some guys use E85 instead of race fuel since its cheaper and is essentially 100 octane. Not sure if it will work as well on a carbed car though and you'd probably have to upgrade the fuel lines.

I don't know a whole lot about it, but it actually looks to be 105-115 octane. Apparently you can run really deep timing, but it takes 30-40% more fuel, so you may need to upgrade the fuel system to run it. I know that some guys in Augusta run it and are getting 100+ hp over their pump gas setups.

Mine isn't a drag car, but I'm running E85 in my turbo civic autox car.  It's awesome stuff.  Requires re-tuning, which on a carbed car means jets and springs and shit, or on a civic means a laptop and an hour on the dyno :)  I'm using the same fuel lines, etc. that Honda installed on the car in 1989.  The fuel pump is a Walbro 255, and I'm running DSM 450cc injectors, but everything in between them is stock.  On 10psi of boost and 11.5:1 compression, I'm putting down 202HP / 185 ft-lbs to the ground with instant spool.  I want to take it to the strip at some point just to see what it will do (I'm guessing low 13's), but it's purpose in life is turning.

There's a place in Kennesaw off 41 that has it. I use to run it in my 7R. Cost all of 17 bucks to fill up a 2.5 gal tank. I'm sure it cost a little more now.
I use to run the 1/8th track in Dallas with my RX7 till' some kid in a stock looking Focus left me like I was standing still. I think that track is closed now. It was shit anyways, up hill & short.

Just got home. Car did good not as good as we thought. Street tires suck. Thanks for coming out Jimmy. Pics to come tomorrow. But my best was 14.39 at 98.5 mph. I did get to make 15 passes so I did get some seat time. Better times to come next time.

I have been going out to the races at AMS for the past couple of fridays. If anybody is there let me know. My uncle runs a dodge 2500 for Garmon's diesel performance.
