Title: WTB: TJ Rear shocks
Post by: tigercb12 on August 10, 2010, 07:54:24 AM
Im looking for some stockish length rear shocks for an 05 TJ. I have 4 in lift Doetsech shocks on the rear now and with the shock mounts on my new axle being higher they are too long! Prefer cheap as possible!  {toast}

I have my stock shocks laying around somewhere...how does $20 for the pair sound?

I'll let him decide what he wants to pay for them. I just threw it out there b/c I dont know what they are worth really.

drich304, is there any way you can measure the extended and collapsed lengths of the shocks if you can find them? I cant seem to find a good answer on line and I don't want to drive all the way to milledgeville and get something that wont work. haha.

Rowingfish, were you able to get those measurements? If they are right on and I cant find any closer to me Ill probably be headed your way sunday if thats cool.

Anyone else closer to WR have stock shocks they want to get rid of?

Raising the lower shock mount without doing the same or more (to use LONGER) shocks is a very questionable idea.............

You will have a shorter shock with less travel that is gonna get ugly at extension.

Thats why I want to get a good measurement off the stock shocks. I may have to just bite the bullet and come up with a whole different way to mount them or to buy 2 inch lift shocks instead of 4 inch. If I mount them as its sits the shocks will be about 1 1/2" from fully stuffed on flat ground with the bump stops sitting about 4-5 inches or more away. Not good. I would just outboard the shocks with f-150 shock mounts but I dont have the room between my tire and my frame for that like on my old CJ on full widths. If I reweld the axle side shock mount to where I would need them for these shocks they will be hanging way low below the axle and getting stuck on everything.

Im definitely open to suggestions or ideas though.  {toast}

I just used the ford towers to outboard my rear shocks. They don't stick out any more than the coil spring

you have any pics of that? I used those on the front of my cj and i just can imagine them fitting without severe rubbing.

You have to "french" them into the frame.  Google "outboard tj rear shocks stu"

That should get you what you need.
