Title: Broken Zipper
Post by: troutfishermen on October 18, 2010, 12:02:00 PM
Does anyone know of someone who repairs Jeep zippers in the Hall / Habersham area? I broken one of the zippers on my back window and now I can't seem to find anyone who does this type of work. I have tried the local upholstry shops, but none of them wants to tackle it.

After I broke mine I bought a bikini top and wind jammer and went with that...then again its not my DD anymore.

I did have the seam that holds the zipper to the top pull out so I bought a real of 50lb fishing line and sewed it back myself using the existing holes...I used needle nose pliers to help get the needle thru. worked like a champ till the zipper broke. So maybe you could find a zipper long enough and sew it in yourself?

Talk to some one at one of the marina's around Lanier, ask them who does canvas/sail repair work. Their are some shops up that way, but can't I remember names.

I have not used them but on 369 in Cumming about 4 miles east of 400 behind "That Biscuit Place" there is a shop that does marine & canvas upholstery work. Sorry, I don't know the name or number but if you want it let me know & I will get if for you.. save you a trip out here at least.

Did you get it taken care of? My buddy's parents do marine upholstery. If interested I'll call em up and see if they will do it. They were the ones who did all of the seats in my boat, which came out nice.
