OFF ROAD EVOLUTION WILL BE RACING KING OF THE HAMMERS IN A JEEP JK UNLIMITED #99
Jack Graef of CTM Racing in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Mel Wade of Off Road Evolution in Fullerton, CA will be racing in this year's King of the Hammers, in a full body Jeep EVO JK Unlimited.
Yes, you heard correct. The Off Road Evolution built 4 door JK ”EVO1" will be put through yet another of world's toughest off road adventures and challenges. "The King of the Hammers 2011 will be a great place to run this rig. I have always believed, if you build products for a vehicle and have the opportunity, you should run them yourself. So when the opportunity came along from Jack to be able to race in King of the Hammers, I jumped at the chance. Running a Jeep JK with production aftermarket parts was the only thing that came to mind," said Mel Wade, Owner CEO of Off Road Evolution.
Thanks to these great companies, who are sponsoring EVO1, we are going to be able to race KOH and showcase all of these production products on our JK:

Do they have a driver that is actually qualified for the race or are they just running the LCQ? If it's the latter I'd say it's a little misleading. {ehm}

Larry McRae from Poison Spyder is gonna be driving it. I'm not sure if he will have to run the LCQ or not. He was a pretty big name in the comp world before he took over Poison Spyder.
The Jeep build is a combined effort between several big companies.

Maybe I'm wrong about the above post. Are there two JK's preparing to run? The list of sponsors looks different on the Poison Spyder entry.

No, you're right he is driving it, and they aren't running the LCQ, nor did they have to qualify like every other team (except the OG13). They were given a spot it the race, which though I don't personally agree with it, it is the race organizers decision.

I just found out I'll be in LA that week, and I'm going to hook up with some guys and go watch the LCQ's at Backdoor on Wednesday. {letseat}
