Title: Winter Run 2011
Post by: Trailabite on February 06, 2011, 02:46:19 PM
We got invited to go wheeling in River Falls Wisconsin this weekend. Had a blast, learned how to 4 wheel in 3 feet of snow, sometimes deeper and we learned how to freeze our  ()() ()() off.

Looks like you found some built rigs to hang out with. Looks way to cold for me, I thought Livingston was crazy at MM a couple of years ago running with no top at 19 degrees.

Corn field, Alfalfa field, cow pasture, frozen creek bed and a ravine with a natural spring flowing in it. This trip was on there 400 acre section. In September they have another big run and then they open up the 600 acres, which supposedly has a lot more hill climbs.

When you see the pic's of my flat tire, that was coming up the ravine and I found a sharp rock that went right through my side wall. The bad part is it was totally my fault. I didn't think I needed to air down on the snow, but after about 2 to 3 hours of not being able to get going somebody finally said, dude you need to air down. So we aired down to 4 psi and it was a completely different story and the trip was a little more fun.

The guys running without there tops on basically say it's no different than running around on a snowmobile. Just have to dress for it.........

Looks like a lot of fun!!! Reminds me of snow wheelin' in Reno.  Haven't done that in a while.

But, no top....  {no} Too cold for me.

At one point I got back into the jeep after helping unstuck one, my pants were frozen from the knees down. I'm not kidding, I'm talking hard as ice frozen.........

Haha, close enough. Tomorrow morning the temp supposed to be -12, which will give us a -25 windchill :o

This is really stupid............................

Unfortunately Richard, I'm getting ready to lose it. My windshield cracked across the bottom and needs to be replaced.

I love snow but thats to much for me.

Question, how is your auto locker in the front axle doing in the snow? I have always read they are bad for snow driving but never really got a reason why.

Jeremy,

There was so much slipping and sliding I couldn't really tell you if there was an issue or not. I can tell though that after I aired my tires down I was able to go all over the place with no issues. So it was getting plenty of traction when I needed it.
