In and around the coal and iron ore mines in NJ...plenty of hills and rough terrain there back in 1966.
-
Not counting Atv's or my own backyard or in anyone elses rig...
River Rock in Nov 08 on 30's and open/open.
I don't have pics from that trip, but this was from 3 months later with 31's and a welded rear and was I'm pretty sure the last time my sliders were straight.

Mine would have to have been Peachtree Corners back in the mid 70's as a passenger when there wasn't anything out there, nor was it looked at as illegal. Driving on Rocks would have been RR in 2007, mud boggs would have been around 1979 0r 1980 at places I won't mention.
-
First time offroading and mudding were on the powerlines around Dallas, GA back before I knew better. First time wheeling was the GATR trip Tellico in June of 2007.
-
Mud riding in Florida when I was in high school. First time in the rocks would have been 2008 with GATR, at Tellico. I miss that place! :bs)
-
My name is Kyle and I have a problem. It all began on the GATR ride at River Rock in September of 2008...open open on 30" gsa... {toast}
-
Tellico 3 days after I bought my xj in April 07.
-
FS road from Amicalola Lodge to Nimblewell Gap. First offroad was as a passenger during GBR cleanup of Beasely. First offroad as driver Trail 4 at Tellico.
-
My first trip was to Beasley in November of 2006 in my stock DubuJ. I went with a few buddies and none of us had a clue. Not long after that I got a budget boost and 31s and went up to Lucas Road. Then in June of 2006 I went to Tellico with the GATR. That's when I got seriously hooked!

Legally...
I think lots may have done some non legal wheeling before they knew any better. This was my first official wheeling trip. This had to be the first for several others as well.
Beasley Knob April 07 GATR first official ride

Same as Matt first legal trip was Beasley. My 2dr Jk is the 4th rig back in that picture. {toast}

1994 in my YJ, an unknown woods road in the deep dark jungle of Sandy Springs...illegal most likely.
2009 in my TJ, Rocky Flats. That's when I started to really get in to it all.

Non legal, sometime in the 90's with my old amigo, 6" lift and 33's. Legally and real wheeling, dixie run Tellico 2007. :'( I signed up for the easier trails for the event, but after the 1st day on those trails I bailed out with a group of guys with XJ's and we did all the hard stuff. It was a baptism by fire deal as school bus was the 1st real trail I ever ran. I can still remember the adrenaline rush of climbing that trail and seeing real rocks for the 1st time. So many great memories from that place. Here is a pic from one of the XJ's behind me as we strated up. Steep! And of course crawfords rock garden. My first one :D All on a 2"BB and 33's. Simple and worked awesome.

First time... hmm... about 1968 or '69 (when I was 6 or 7) in my Dad's old flat-fender at a place we called Wolf Creek in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

In High School (as a passenger since I didn't own a 4X4) at our favorite place to wheel (and party) Bald Mountain.

I bought my first 4X4 in 1987, an '87 Dodge Dakota while stationed in Oklahoma City and used to operate it in four wheel drive out at Draper Lake, but I never really considered it 4-wheeling. It was also operated in four wheel drive a few times while I was on leave in Reno, NV and again didn't really consider it wheeling.
And the first REAL wheeling trip was in 1995 at Niagra Rim near Sonora Ca. I was in my old CJ5 along with my brother-in-law in his YJ. Although I did go to Hollister Hills (where Four Wheeler magazine holds the Top Truck Challenge) a few times too.
We ran the Rubicon, Sierra Trek, and Bassey Falls also to name just a few after that trip.
