Title: Prayers for Steven @ D-town
Post by: Danny Kinder on November 04, 2011, 11:45:53 AM
Some of the guys were at Durhamtown riding dirt bikes and atv's this weekend, they had a great time!! About 20 minuets after they left Mike's son Stephen went out for one more ride before it got dark. He was about 15' in the air after hitting a jump & the motor died on his bike. He fell head first - they had to life-flight him to the hospital. They did surgery to release the swelling in his head and put him into an induced coma. I think they are waking him up today. Please pray for his safe recovery!! He is a great guy and a long time friend!

Read about this in the Durhamtown newsletter. It is crazy--you never know when something like this could happen, just like any other day on the track. Prayers will be sent for Steven and his family.

From Stephens Dad Mike:

First I would like to personally thank all of you for all of the emails, prayers and phone calls in support of my son Stephen. Prayers have come from as far away as Spain! If prayers can heal then Stephen has the best chance in the world!!
It has been 17 days and he is still in an unconscious state most days. He has a (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injury where the brain rotated upon impact. There was minimal damage to the helmet so the impact was just at the wrong angle. His arm is healing after Orthopedics put three plates in his arm. We had a meeting with the Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta today and Stephen will be moved there when their first bed opens. They are saying that this could be as soon as, Monday so we are very optimistic because Shepherds is the best in the USA!
Thanks again for your prayers and positive thoughts!

I spoke to his mom on 12/7.

She stated that he was doing well and is improving greatly.

Said that the hospital has him on track to be released around christmas.

Depends on the progress he makes.

Durhamtown news :

Happy Holidays!!

Update on Stephen
His progress is a living miracle he is now walking with minor
assistance, regular food
(Yesterday Varsity Chili Hotdog) his mind has great long term memory
with some limited short term memory.  We are expecting a full
recovery with in a year.  He will come home for X-mas for 14 days and
return to Shepherds Pathways for more therapy in January.  Thanks for
all the prayers.  He is a testament of Gods power!

Durhamtown suffered a great loss of a friend and employee on Sunday
morning here on DP property. Wayne Jordan (64) was Lindo's partner
for all the development and trail maintenance. Wayne was always on
the road scrap or bobcat, helped prep tracks, always smiling... a
limb entered the bobcat and pierced him in the stomach and severed a
main artery and he died instantly. Wayne will always be missed and
remembered.  The new GP track will be named after him “Wayne's
Track”

Very happy to hear of his great recovery!

I heard Wayne had died, but assumed of natural causes.  That is awful.  Very sorry to hear of such a tragic death.

I spent a few days of Thanksgiving weekend running a bull dozer and Bobcat and certainly see the dangers.  It will through huge trees like they are nothing.

Prayers for both families.
