Possibly Last Night Launch For Space Shuttle
« on: November 14, 2008, 06:42:45 PM »
If anyone is interested.  Tonight may be the last night launch of the Space Shuttle.  You can watch it  and listen to it live on the internet on the link below.  Pretty interesting.

My nerd side came out and I got the kids to watch as well. They were amazed. Shoot, I was too! That thing just books on out! I used to be a space shuttle freak when I was in middle school. I still have a 3 ft model of the challenger shuttle. :D
I've grown tired of this.

Yea, I can understand the nerd side.  My wife and I stood outside with my laptop in my hand.  We were watching it on the screen while we followed it in the sky.  Unfortunately it was too overcast last night to see with the naked eye.  We can usually see it in the day or night launches.  I think is it awesome to see.  When I was a small kid my dad took us down to watch the Apollo launch.  We saw the ones just before the one where the men burnt up in it.  I was only about 5 years old at the time.  I like to watch the NASA video live because you witness the raw power of a designed explosion that is most of the time controlled.

It was awesome.  I watched it in HD with the girls with the sub and surround all turned up.  They had a bizillion questions, but they knew there were 3 GT grads on board before hand.  Local news I guess.

Linda was in Tampa on the bay bridge from St Pete when the challenger blew up in 86'.  She could see it crystal clear.   Everyone on the bridge just stopped and got out for a half hour.

In 04, my family and I were in Daytona for the race and got to the see the shuttle launch. Well, they had delayed the launch until that day and that was the best firework ever.
