Rain and Spidershades question
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:00:19 AM »
Just wondering if anyone who has the Mesh spidershade has had any run'ins with rain and the spidershade?  i now Jeeps with the tops down are just fine in a light rain, but heavy, well the inside window
can get pretty bad and, its happend to me 3 times already, had to stop pull over. in poring rain and put the top up, now without the windows its not bad, sure the back get a bit wet.  but i was wondering
if with the spidershade on (which i can leave it on even when putting the top up) i know i will get wet, just wondering if its any better?  i dont mind water , so far nothing seems to be bothered by it.  my raido
still works, as well as everything else, and i have had it puddle up in the trays on the dash and console..

You will get wet.
I've grown tired of this.

Nope you will get wet... just put the top up when it rains. Done it more than once on the trails.

Great thing about the spider is it stays on with your factory top  </ROCKIN/>

Agree......one of the best mod's for the money. Great not having the header bar,
and leaving the soft top mounted. Just stop and put it up in a hurry.

I just went through this over the weekend and was not happy at all. The spider shade does not work well at all in the rain. I'm looking for a different cover. My problem is I don't run the original top and don't want to. I have already broke 2 door surrounds so now I just keep everything off. I was looking at a Bikini top but they look like they use the door surrounds, if so, it's out.

well, it does work well in the sun.  i was just thinking that it might offer a bit more protection in those slightly harder rains.  Ooo well.  no worries, ill just put the top up, takes 3 min tops.

Chuck, I run a bestop bikini top (full length) and it uses velcro around the cage bars. When I want to put the top up I fold it back so it folds at the sound bar and I can still put the bars and regular top on with no issues. I am with you, no wheeling with a top on {no}

That's what I need, good ole fashion velcro ;D

I need a bikini top too.  Miss the Off Road Heros top that could be configured anyway I wanted, and had no surrounds.

I think the Spider Shade works perfect, and keeps the sun off, and not intended to block the rain, but no good to me.  I want full shade or nothing.

So the Spider fits under the top, and you can have the bikini rolled up to the front and roll it out if you hit a shower?

Beats carrying the entire top around.
