Update:

I just dropped Scout back off at the vets office. His wound split back open again. I was hoping to be able to take his collar off tomorrow, but now it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I think they are going to use staples this time.

Jon, I've been taking Scout to Eastside Animal Hospital in Grayson since he was a puppy. I've been pretty happy with them and they have 24-hour emergency care. They don't have boarding though.

Staples should work. Just got to keep him calm and not let him run. Poor guy!
I've grown tired of this.

Thanks man that's good to know about Eastside.  We have been very happy with the boarding at the vet we currently use.  It's always good to know that there is a well recommended vet within 5-10 minutes of our house for emergencies though!  Wishing a speedy recovery to Scout!

Not sure you're asking, but there is a great kennel in Winder that we highly recommend.

Winding Creek Kennel (was recommended to us,and we have had an excellent experience)

I usually use Indian Shoals Pet Resort between Grayson and Dacula. It's very nice also. You can even get play time and pool time for them. Scout loves it.

Scout got 13 staples and some relief stitches today. The relief stiches are further out than the staples and draw the wound together. This relieves the pressure on the edges of the wound and will hopefully keep the staples from pulling apart. They also gave me some doggy valiums to help keep him calm. They work, but when he wakes up, he staggers around like a drunk.

Now he has to wear the collar for 10-14 days until the staples and stitches come out

Man, sorry to hear about scout, hope he gets better soon. its hard to understand the pain we go through as an owner, but i am dealing withthe same thing with my Shepherd, he got pano on his front paws from a growth spirt and now that we have our new dog he tries to keep up with her but you can just see the pain in his eyes when he tries to run and play. Either way, just gotta stay positive, i know scout will be ok, and i cant wait to finally get Zane out there with him, he's finally matured enough to the point where i think i can take him riding with me...
One Jeep = $3500
Set of tires= $500
Lift= $600
Snorkel=$100
Winch=$400
Knowing i can take the road less traveled = Priceless

I feel bad for the dog, but the pic with the collar on it needs a caption.  ;)
