From what I read, replacing the stock turbo downpipe is the best upgrade for the $.

6 position chip for the win. Plug it into the ecu and set the turn dial and go. I think ts was the one I had on my past diesel and loved it.

Edit: make sure you have a good set of gauges.

I have a 2006 Dodge with the 5.9 Cummins H.O. I put the Banks dual exhaust with the monster muffler on it. K& N cold air intake and filter. Bully Dog downloader and tweaked the pump .........just a little. You have one of the best pickup diesel engines ever produced. I don't know if Bully Dog has a programmer but I really like the product. I can make mine do some wild stuff

I think I have a programmer from Diablosports for a 7.3 in the garage.

Predator for 99-03 that has been reset to factory.

I bought a new TS 6 postion chip  ($300)
Got it put on last night. Can you say hello horsepower?
This is how it's programmed
1. stock settings
2. high idle for cold starts
3.   50HP/90 ft-lbs torque
4.   75HP/140 ft-lbs torque
5. 100HP/185 ft-lbs torque
6. 140+ EXTREME/260 ft-lbs torque
I have the intake and straight pipe with stock injectors
Got a 5 speed so tranny temp won't be an issue
It will put out some black smoke but not really rolling coal.
I can't believe how big of a difference even on the lower settings!
I will be towing to Choccollocco next Saturday and see how it does pulling.
I plan on leaving it on the 75 hp setting and see how the towing and mpg do.
I really can't wait for Harlan......them long ass hills won't be so bad this time!!

I have a TS performance 6 position chip on my 2000 7.3 as well. It does make a huge difference. The only thing I was disappointed with was the mileage, I may see a small increase if any around town stop and go driving but running empty on the highway the mileage is less on both the 50 and 75 hp settings than stock.  I usually tow in the 50 hp setting and when I run the numbers on the fuel it comes out to almost the exact same as when I was towing without the chip. The truck gets the weight up to speed a lot easier and faster though!

I bought my chip in 2004, I have wondered if there would be any benefit to sending it back to them and having it reprogrammed. Are the tunes for the 7.3 the same today as what TS put on there 9-10 years ago?

Scott, am I reading this correct. Your fuel mileage stays the same with the power bumped up. I would think that's a good thing? Also I would probably send it back, there is probably a update for something that might help out. Or at least call about it
