When are we gonna ride here...
« on: May 28, 2008, 09:11:42 PM »
Just happened to be cruisin the good ole Jeepforum :P and was looking at the trail ride section. We have got to make a trip to Windrock/ Coal Creek sometime. Check out some of the pics. Rock, rocks and more rocks!

Some research is in order.  I have not heard good things for crawlers.  Guys in my office that ride four wheelers say there are hundreds of them, and that it's a massive dust bowl unless it has rained.  Worth checking out.  Privately owned coal mine land.

The place is huge. Tons of trails, but there aren't too many rough places for those on 37"s+. But for most of us, it would still be fun. It's about 45 minutes west of Knoxville and about 3 and a half hours from Atlanta. I've only gone once, but I really have no excuses for why I don't go more.

Here are some pictures of when I went back in October. No real action shots just because we were having too much fun.

We'll have to give that guy with the silver Tj a shout when we head up there. I've seen more pictures of him wheeling than anybody else on Jeepforum... not saying much, but... ya know  ;D   He's got a really nice rig.

I wouldn't waste my time going to Windrock.  It caters more to ATV's.

x2. The property is owned by the coal company but the ORV is runned by the Windrock ATV Club so 4x4 are treated as well but there are still some fun trails for us.

One bad thing I forget to mention is that they are drilling on the mountain now so they have built large, gravel roads all over the mountain for the heavy equipment so you have to drive on lots of gravel roads and the map is no longer up to date.
