Customer came in with a busted up old maroon 97+ 2 door xj on 35's. ;D He'd just bought it out of ATL someplace and proceeded to womp it around the woods. Came to the shop with a stripped front ring gear that he wasnt smart enough to stop driving on. Complained a lot about the locker popping in the rear. So I sold him a set of stock axles and advised him to put the xj on 33's. I told him he wasnt experienced enough for lockers and 35's, which was true. I also told him I'd try to sell the old axles to help him out.
Then while checking out the front end we put it on the lift and found out the rear d44 pinion was moving 1/4" +/- in and out when you pulled on the driveshaft. So the front is just a housing with stripped gears and a detroit, no axle shafts, bearings, brakes, etc. The rear still worked but it was just a matter of time until something bad happened there. The rear gears COULD be set up again but I dont know how long they've been riding poorly and what they might sound like. I think we have the brake drums and hardware around for the rear end, the rear axle is still complete minus the brake stuff
