A waterboarding a day keeps the terrorist away!

WWW

I am soon going to get some work done on my front bumper. I will be stubing it and adding a stinger. I drew this up in photoshop, let me get some opinions please.

The dark grey areas will be 1/4" plate.

It will be stronger if it mounts to the front face of the bumper and has some supports going to the top of the bumper. I've never seen the point of stingers with only two mounting points Huh?

It will have 4 mounting points. I am tying it into the tube fenders as well. Just trying to figure out what kind of main hoop to go with. The one pictured is 2 pieces vs. one completely bent hoop. I have been debating on tying into the top or through the front. I like going through the front because it wont get in the way of winch plates, but I think it takes away from the aesthetics. I want it to be strong but also look a little different than others and look nice.

Well I got Adam's jeep out of my garage finally. Its raining pretty hard here, so I stayed inside and got started on the stinger. Got the main hoop cut & bent. More to come this week.

Here are some pics.

Ok got some more done today.

Started by stubying the bumper.

marking what I dont need.

Chop 1.

Tack the ends back on.

Tack the sting on.

A weld.

Cleaned/painted and installed.

View from the cockpit.

Still need to cut the 1/4 plate for gussets and for the tip. I will get that done on another day.

You could also add a small bar across it towards the top to hook your winch too.

Looks good but personally I would try and tie it into your tube fenders somehow.
