Need help with wipers
« on: January 17, 2013, 08:13:29 PM »
Seems like I'm a regular around here with all the problems. This one has me aggravated and stumped. I had this problem at random, but now its happening a lot. My tj has intermittent wipers. No matter what the intermittant setting, the work the same as on low(no delay). The problem was also they randomly would t work, and now its happening a lot(4 times just today!). Even when they won't work, the washers will still squirt. Here's the kicker: when they don't work, if I get out and knock the wiper arm right where it connects to the stem(with the switch on), they start working until I turn them off. Then they might or.might not come back on until I hit it again. They also never park. So I'm thinking its a wiper motor problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad wiper motor. It could also be in the wiring, but doubtful. Get some where quiet and see if you can hear what it is doing, or in this case trying to do.

Nothing makes a sound when they aren't working. I don't think its the wiper switch, because when I beat on the drivers side arm they will start working

That sounds like a bad motor.  Brushes are worn out and hitting it starts it.

Had a VW with the same symptoms, wiper motor replacement fixed it.

What year is your jeep? Any problems with the radio or turn signals?
