Ring gear. Shafts are 30/30. I had this uxle under a tj with a 4.0 and 39" reds. Going to a v8 and atlas 4 speed with the stickies wouldn't work. I wanted something I could hold the peddle to floor with stickies and it live.

I went with an 05 sd axle. Spool and rcv's.

It can take abuse but not the trail riding and racing I'm looking for.

As I understand it, the main disadvantage of the 50 vs. the 60 is the availability of aftermarket parts.

Not really. You can get cut shafts by a few companies, that are of high quality. Gears are not an issue. The greatest limiting factor is locker option, but there is already one in there.

Hudlow Gear, the shop that straightened my axle, can make or modify any type of shaft and spline count you need.
