Forest Service road scouting ride 8/11
« on: August 03, 2013, 07:10:50 PM »
I'm planning to take the red Jeep for a FS ride Sunday morning.  I haven't had a street-legal rig for quite a while, and in the old days I liked riding up in the Chattahoochee Forest.  I'm planning to offer to lead a FS ride for the club later on, so this is a chance to make sure the roads are all open.  Plan is to enter at Nimblewell Church and go up past Winding Stair Gap, the fish hatchery, and visit the swinging bridge, plus drive up to Hawk Mountain.  Might even take a hike up to Springer Mtn.  if it's not too hot.

If anyone is interested in going along, post up or send me a PM.  These roads don't require 4wd, so suitable for anyone.  I'm tentatively planning to leave the house about 8am and be at Nimblewell Church by 9.  Pack a lunch.

Is there a particular address i may punch into google and get directions to where we will meet?  When I search for Nimbelwell Church I continue to get recommendations for Nimbelwill Church???

Thanks.

Spelled Nimblewell.  Plug "Nimblewell Church" into google maps for the location.  The church is very near to the entrance to FS-28.  There may be services on Sunday morning.  If  not we can meet at the driveway;  otherwise meet at the FS road entrance, which is marked on the map too.

I'm in with Cheryl. We will see you at the church. Are we going to stop at one of the recreation area's to cook lunch (hot dogs) or is it a bag lunch theme? //SLAMIN//

Bag lunch.  Depending on how fast we go lunch will be either at the fish hatchery or the swinging bridge.
