You might want to keep an eye on the FS/FT classifieds (or list in the WTB section) at hardlinecrawlers.com and pirate4x4.com.

When you go to do it, there are a couple of GATR guys who have done a V8 swap.

That's not the only option, but it's what he and I have.

These motors are very plentiful and fit the Wrangler engine compartment.  There have been a lot of swaps with these and lots of info on how to do them.  Depending on the model and the cam/tune, you can get upwards of 500hp.

After market support is huge for these motor. The potential for these motors is rather large. They aren't as heavy as the old 5.7. They are 300k motors, so pulling one from a junk yard with 100k is nothing. Easy to tune and work on. They will cut power and allow you to do nothing before the motor will over heat. There are some versions with aluminum heads. You can buy complete motors that are like 3 wire hooks up that have been pulled, inspected, and ran. They are a stronger and superior to old technology in every way.

Just a suggestion.  Making them stand alone isn't hard but these motors are worth looking into.

I agree with Tripp! If I were ever to get the bug to swap in a V8 if go with a 5.3L or 6.0L! Good strong motor with PLENTY of aftermarket support for whatever you want to do with them!

What is a reasonable price for a 5.3 and/or 6.0 with the computer and all of the wires that has not been verified?

Don't forget the transmission.
