Gun Safes, Availability and Kids
« on: April 06, 2014, 08:29:50 PM »
I'm sure there are plenty of articles out there to answer my question in the safest way possible. But I want to ask for real world answers.

My son is approaching an age where he can feel free to explore the house. When they're little, it's easy to keep them out of the bedroom, or keep guns high. It's easy to lock them up in a gun safe. But what about when you need them? What about when you're used to keeping one bedside because you live in the city or on a Marta bus line?
How do YOU keep arms at the ready and still keep them inaccessible to your offspring?

Teach them about them. Dont touch. If you hide them it will peak curiosity and things may happen then.

Nope.  You were taught a lot of things that you weren't suppose to do and you did any way...right?

Lock them up. If you have young kids, you have to keep them locked up if the gun is not on your person.

Definitely, Definitely teach your kids about guns and gun safety but do not ever give them the opportunity to interact with your guns when they are alone, even for a second.  Your kids have friends right, they come over and play, sometimes they aren't completely supervised...problem.

Lock them up if you have kids, period.

I have the safe that Tony posted and like it. Very easy to access with the right code and still keeps the little hands away.

Same idea as the one Tony posted. Beefy construction with the very proven Simplex locking mechanism.
