Camper shell rack
« on: July 27, 2014, 03:57:59 PM »
Hi guys. I have a Silverado with a cab level camper shell over the bed and u want to put a cargo rack on top. I have looked into making a rack compared to purchasing one. I am currently going to school for welding so I have skills and equipment to make one but the question I have is this: What would be the best way to attach it to the roof? It is a fiberglass shell with a carpet liner inside and I just don't want it to cause a leak or crack the fiberglass. Any help is greatly appreciated.
     Thanks,
           Alex

I have seen some racks that use a flange that mounts between the top and truck bed. The rack is elevated so that no part is touching the fiberglass

I have thought about those but wasn't sure of any disadvantages it would have when compared to a roof mounted design (if any)
